| If nails are cut too short, then you will run into the "quick" - the blood vessel (and nerve) that feeds the toenail. This can be quite painful, and hard to stop the bleeding. There are products you can purchase (quick stop) at the pet store. Also, you can just use plain corn starch or even flour. Blot a large amount directly onto the toenail and hold in place for several seconds. It won't be pleasant for you or your dog - but it will stop the bleeding. |
